Foxhunt Badge for DEFCON 31

Goal: A friend of mine who is a hardware designer commissioned me to create art to be put on a printed circuit board for Defcon 31. This radio fox badge is an electrical device that can be hidden for people with radios to find, similar to hide and seek. During the event 10 of the fox hunt badges would be hidden in secret locations around the event space.

Project: I illustrated this vector drawing of a fox that could be screen printed on the electronic board with white, gold, and a black. I chose to use retro style duotone textures, coupled with geometric patterns to show the "digital or technological" side, along with triangles and dots to show the "radio frequency" aspect. Only 10 were produced initially and it was fun seeing people get so excited about looking for them. Some people even built special antennas to be better able to hear the frequency. More badges were made to sell after the conference and sold out almost immediately. I loved this project because it is a melding of two of my favorite things, technology and art and I got to be a part of creating something beautiful and useful.
